John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people with his pop-folk songs and many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs for his home state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Denver is now the embodiment of Colorado to the many people across the globe. People you meet in other countries, like New Zealanders, and they ask them "I come from Colorado" and they immediately respond by saying Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working in small Folk Music Groups. The song was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew the song would be one of the Top 10 hits. The song was recorded by the singer only a few days afterward when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
